Personal

Chad Esslinger has built his business on doing what is right for his clients. He and his team bring clarity to complexity to help others achieve their full potential — all with the backing of Northwestern Mutual, one of the strongest and most ethical financial institutions in the country.

What this means for Chad is that he is committed to having the difficult conversations that are often easier to put off, including keeping clients focused on their goals and protecting their loved ones with proper estate planning. The end result is a better future for multiple generations, something he considers to be the crowning achievement thus far in his 14 years of entrepreneurship.

Born and raised in Kansas, Chad attended Wichita State University and Kansas State University, where he graduated with a degree in Finance. He started his career as a financial advisor in 2007 with HighPointe Financial Group and was nominated as a KC Business Rising Star by KC Business Magazine in 2010. He moved his practice to Northwestern Mutual in 2012, where he was named new advisor of the year 2013-2015.

Over the past nine years, he has led the way in hiring, training and developing team members to help Esslinger Financial serve in the Kansas City community, as well as scale and grow across the country. Additionally, he has helped recruit and mentor new advisors for Northwestern Mutual by lending his expertise in client consultations and individual meetings.

He has been a member of the Million Dollar Round Table/Lives Leaders Summit since 2013. Chad has received the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors’ Quality Award since 2012 and finalized his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 2016. Other professional affiliations and titles through the American College include Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®), Accredited Estate Planner (AEP®), and Certification in Long-Term Care (CLTC), showcasing his aptitude for long-term estate and retirement planning.

It is important to Chad to serve in his community, especially when it comes to lifting up children’s causes. He and his wife, Kelly, recently took part in the Most Wanted campaign for Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City, in which they created community awareness, sought corporate sponsorships, curated a live auction and served as part of the committee that raised more than $1.1 million. In the past, Chad has also joined efforts with Ronald McDonald House and Children’s Place.

You can find Chad enjoying Brookside with his family during his downtime. He likes to take his children — Lola, Abe and Leo — to the zoo/movies and attend all their sporting activities. Chad loves golfing and hopes to get his two oldest out on the course this year.
